Hi, I’m Jen Stoneman.
I set up my swim school in 2009 after finding it hard to find the right swimming lessons for my 3-year-old son, Dylan. I wanted an environment that was fun and relaxed, but also one that offered high quality, progressive instruction introducing him to the main swim strokes. I wanted to develop his water confidence and provide him with an understanding of water safety. Struggling to find exactly what I wanted, I decided these criteria should form the values and objectives of my swim school, Angelfish Swimmers.
Growing up by the sea I have always had an affinity with water and a passion for swimming. I started teaching as a volunteer for my local club in my early teens and have been involved with the industry ever since. I have over 20 years professional teaching experience, am a fully qualified Swimming Teachers’ Association (STA) Level 2 Swimming Teacher, I am qualified to teach people with disabilities and hold an Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) Level 2 Extended Diploma in Coaching Learn to Swim (Pre-Fundamentals).
In addition to teaching pre-schoolers, I am also experienced in instructing baby swimming, older children and adults. I am hugely proud of all my swimmers, not least my very own Angelfish, Dylan and Esme who both share my love and enthusiasm for the sport.
